On October 4, the Stratford & District Historical Society hosted an engaging event at the Stratford-Perth Archives. The afternoon began with a captivating presentation by Cindy J. Sinko, Assistant Archivist, on one of Canada’s fastest pacers, “The Eel.”

Following this was a documentary featuring “The Fawm Family Horse Racing Legacy,” which celebrated the contributions of a local horse racing family.

During the AGM business portion of the event, acknowledgments were made to two exceptional volunteers, Jayne Trachsel and Nancy Musselman. Their years of dedicated service have significantly impacted the preservation of our local history. Volunteers are the backbone of organizations such as the Stratford & District Historical Society, where enthusiasm and commitment breathe life into our collective stories.
The event also marked the introduction our new executive members:
President: Carole Huband
Vice-President: Dean Robinson
Treasurer: Allan Tye
Secretary: Pat Bolton
Membership: Mary Walton
Website and Documentaries: Andrew C. Brown
Events: Michele Bailey, Kathleen Freeman
Members-at-Large: Lorne Bolton, Cheryl Strickland

Local organizations thrive on the dedication of volunteers. Their hard work not only keeps our history alive but also shapes our future events and initiatives. With the new executive in place, we look forward to a year filled with exciting events that will celebrate our rich historical tapestry.
