Join us for the premiere viewing of “Under This Roof”
Experiencing the historical documentation of 77 Brunswick Street, Under This Roof, was truly exhilarating, thanks in no small part to the award-winning talents of Andrew C. Brown.
From witnessing Gerard Brender à Brandis sketching his orchids outdoors, to observing the intricate process of engraving a wood block, and the subsequent inking and printing on an Albion printing press over a century old, the experience left an indelible impression. The narrative exchanges between Gerard and his sister, Marianne Brandis, painted a vivid picture of sibling respect and a mutual appreciation of their extraordinary talents.
Cambria Ravenhill’s deep passion for the historical significance of this building was palpable and infectious. Dean Robinson and Betty Jo Belton engaged in insightful discussions at the Stratford-Perth Archives, poring over Jim Anderson’s extensive collection of documents with meticulous care, and utilizing an updated digital system for thorough research.
Norma Cardiff shared her firsthand experiences of working alongside Jim Anderson, reminiscing about his scrapbook and her own recorded memories, all underscored by the sympathetic restorations they undertook on the house.
If only this house could speak and regale us with tales of the myriad tradespeople and residents it has sheltered over the years, the stories would undoubtedly be nothing short of extraordinary.
